Greg Walton
Catholic recording artist Greg Walton has won five Unity Awards (“Catholic Grammys”), which are given by the UCMVA for excellence in Catholic music. He is a popular singer-songwriter who has performed hundreds of concerts throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. He has shared the stage with some of the world’s most popular artists, including Polarboy, Ceili Rain, DC Talk, and the Newsboys, at some of the world’s largest gatherings, including World Youth Day, Creation Festival, Kingdom Bound Festival and many other major events. With such an impressive track record, one might think that Greg had his sights set on stardom but nothing could be further from the truth. Greg is first and foremost a dedicated husband, father and teacher. His music is just one of the tools he uses to communicate his deep love of God and his Catholic faith. Greg, in fact, is a staff member of Father Ryan Catholic High School in Nashville, Tennessee, where, as a member of the theology department, he teaches Sacred Scripture and Apologetics. Greg formerly spent three years as a music teacher in the tough Proviso West District of Chicago and also two years as the liturgist of his home parish in Downers Grove, Illinois.
Greg’s third album, I Won’t Back Down, received the 2002 Unity Award for best modern rock/alternative album of the year. Like his previous releases, it has received national airplay and great reviews from such prestigious magazines as Catholic Parent. In addition to his teaching schedule Greg still finds time to perform in concert from coast to coast, on his own or with his band.
